News - Aquatabs launched in Senegal

Wexford, Ireland, March 3rd 2010:  – Medentech announces the launch of Aquatabs Water Purification Tablets in Senegal.

 

Dr Boubacar Dankoko, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Health and Prevention chaired the launch ceremony of Aquatabs water purification tablets on the 24th February at the CICES in Senegal. He acknowledged the work of the social partners Ademas and aid agency USAID, saying that their work was an outstanding contribution towards the Millennium Goal. He was pleased that the introduction of Aquatabs was a cost effective solution and part of an overall programme to provide continuous supplies of safe water to Senegalese households. Aquatabs water purification tablets will be available for sale via Pharmacies and Retail Outlets throughout Senegal.

 

Following field studies undertaken by the National Health Service it was discovered that 1 in 5 children under the age of 5 had diarrhoea during the 2 weeks of the study. Demba Baldé of the National Health Service highlighted that Aquatabs water purification tablets were effective against bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminthes, known contaminants of water leading to diarrhoea.
